(Invite) Let’s paint! -The Paint Republic

Last night I was kindly invited by @LovePopUpsLondon for a night of art, burgers, laughter and drinks!

The event was one of The Paint Republic’s painting evening where you are guided by a qualified artist to paint your very own masterpiece.

Our goal tonight was a beautiful painting of two #flamingos and to be totally honest, as a non painter with no painting experience I was a little nervous about the whole evening and thought I wouldn’t be able to create the piece of work I proudly took home with. Scroll to the end for pictures.

How surprise I was to find out that, I too can paint! Yippee…

The event was hosted at the Stane Street Syndicate in Clapham and we was kindly treated to an evening of burgers from #Rubyjeansburger. Their burger menu isn’t the biggest but their combination was sure enough to tempt even the most picky eater.

I chose the Sloppy Jalopy, which was a beef patty, with hashbrown, jalapeno, cheese on a brioche bun…super yummy, we was also serves the biggest plate of sweet potato fries…I must also add, as a big group of 20 hungry punters, the kitchen staff did really well to make sure all the burgers arrived together and also catered for one special order of gluten free buns.

So with a belly happily satisfied, we moved on to the main event…let’s paint!

While we was busy filling our bellies our teacher Becky was busy setting up our tools and paints to get us started.

Each one of us, had a canvas on a stand, paint brush, water and a toothbrush (I’ll get to this later!) with a mixing palette together with some paint ready to get us started. There was also a flamingo painting she had prepared earlier as a guide for us.

Becky, gave us a quick tutorial of the paintbrushes we had and a quick reminder of our primary colours…no prizes for what the three colours are…

Becky also explained, the steps to creating our masterpiece, she was patience and walked around the room to make sure we all got the steps … however the main thing Becky told us was to have fun with 90’s music playing, and this was one art class where drinking is encouraged! Well if it didn’t go well then we all know who to blame.

My masterpiece

The session was for two hours, due to the drinking elements…(apologies) but it’s 18+ only and cost ¬£25.00 which also includes the painting for you to take home with you. Click here to see booking options, they also have venues in London, Manchester, Chester, Liverpool, Shropshire and North Wales, so hopefully there is a location near you.

Class sizes are up to 20 people so if you are looking for a special event, birthdays or a team building function then this is an amazing opportunity. Sign up to their website as they usually have special and last minute offers available.

A really great night out and am looking forward to going back to practice my new developed skills.

Celebrate Fantasia- with Sounds and Sorcery at The Vaults

IMG_20180705_200824Can you believe Micky Mouse is 90 years old this year and to celebrate this magical event, SoundsandSorcery have produced an¬†immersive sound and visual¬†journey within the deep underground London’s The Vault venue.

The journey takes each visitor through the music of Disney Fantasia while offering them a chance to explore and enjoy both live theatrical performances and light and computer generated displays.

The producers of this event is looking to entice both the visual and musical senses, as each visitor upon entering will be given their own headset which they can control their own Fantasia journey.

I have always enjoyed the immersive experience previously put on by The Vaults and I was very much looking forward to the evening ahead of me.IMG_20180727_185012

I must say that upon entrance, there was a little confusion with regards to where you register and where you went to pick up your headset, however, headset ready, the anticipation of what was behind those big white doors definitely builds the excitements.

The venue itself is free roaming on your iPod sound device there is a map of the rooms available so you can ensure you get to enjoy each of the rooms available. IMG_20180727_185021Each visitor can spend as little or as long as they wanted in each of the three rooms, visual lighting with the changing moods and the music on the headphones is what the producer uses to communicate with us.

The first room which we entered ‘The rite of spring’ was like a magical forest, with hills of mushrooms and flowers that glow in the dark guide us deeper into the forest, the floors were filled with bark, which gave off the smell of the forest.IMG_20180705_202520

Next we waited for the next live showing of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice room, I think this has to be my favourite room. The live actors and the story telling really draws the audience in and the music playing on your headphones really bring the visual in front of you to light.¬† I have heard from other visitors that you may get wet.. And the benches in the front does prove it hence no one dare to be in front.ÔŅľIMG_20180727_192022

Next we visited what was the volcanic room, the room was designed as if you was walking along erupted volcanoes, and by using clever lighting, it really looked liked it was erupting!IMG_20180705_211434

After a drink at the bar, (do give the cocktails a go),  we loved the colour changing gin cocktails. We were definitely wowed.

We then moved to the theatre part of the show, ‘The Dance of the Hours’¬† ¬†the show again paired with the lighting and music playing through your headphones are combined to the dances from the actors in front of you. we was told that the live performance was available every 15 minutes, and there are signage to tell you when the last show would be so you don’t miss any part of the experience.¬†IMG_20180727_194539

After this we moved along to the final room, staff are around to make sure you have seen everything before you enter this room as there are no returns once you have entered. IMG_20180727_195518

Once this concluded, the screen lifted to lead us into a tree filled woodland. A great conclusion to the experience I have just encountered. The trees and barks on the floor really makes you feel you are actually there.

If you live immersive experience paired with music then please make this a stop for your visual and hearing senses.

I was invited to attend this event by Love Pop Up London and SoundsandSorcery however all the reviews are my own.received_10156499497494104

Looking for a new bar experience? Lets check out Studio 88

IMG_20180201_222359So everyone will know that you are never short of a bar or two when you live the busy city of London.

I mean every corner you turn there is a bar/ pub or drinking hole calling out for punters alike. Now how does a one stand out from the crowds? Well lets welcome Leicester Square new food and cocktails hang out spot Studio 88.

IMG_20180201_193730This place has it all, great cocktails and yummy food that is served in cute little bamboo “California Cones”, think salmon tartar, coconut chicken curry, miso pork, arancini to name a few of the culinary delights you could be enticed with. At ¬£19.00 for six cones and a glass of prosecco for London prices, I call it a bargain!

IMG_20180201_180147Now lets talk about the bar, one thing I would say is bring shades as this bar is bright in neon especially when you stroll down the stairs into the main bar area..I was invited to the press event along with Jo from Love Pop Up London the staff was amazing making sure we was well looked after.IMG_20180201_220933

If we didn’t feel safe, we noticed a few detectives scattered around the bar. They have a private area where you could hire out for your own personal party!

IMG_20180201_203804My favourite cocktail of the night has to be Hitsville Studios, Finlandia vodka, St Germain, Cucumber and Elderflower cordial and fresh lime juice…mmmm¬†I also love how much you could have just ordering a drink, this one comes with a mini polaroid picture for you to keep, erm hello anyone else agree that nights this fun needs to be documented!

IMG_20180201_184200Also little birdie tells me they do happy hour! Everyday 5-7 all cocktails are ¬£5.00 and on Monday nights after 7pm they do 2-4-1 cocktails, now I don’t know anyone who turns their nose down on a good deal.

Oh wait, I forgot to tell you that they have a 6 piece band every night waiting to take your request, ¬†so you can’t complain if the music is bad, cause you haven’t done anything about it!
